Presentation Brothers Juniorate, Montebello, QC

Was Brother Baptist a teacher from 1960-1965 ?
I remember Brother Reen at Montebello embarking on his daily walk circa 1967-71 🙂
Another fairly recent photo of Cahill Rooney who passed away on Good Friday 2021, may he rest in peace. Vice Principal at Presentation High School in Montebello Quebec during the mid 1970s. One of my teachers from 1967-1971.
Back in time... Brother Martin and school band.
Back in time, Presentation High School, Montebello.
Why did this place close down?
I have been in contact with the Presentation Brothers newly appointed Archivist who has provided a number of vintage photos....
Montebello vintage snapshots .....😃....
Interesting view of how the main floor hallway of the old house looks today...🤔, in 1967 I believe there were approximately 48 students enrolled at Presentation HS,, 4 years later, 70+, I attended from 1967-1971

A nice way to point out the practical side of being a woman. I thank God for the women in my life! Keep Smiling! 😁

Carl, Larry and myself spent some time catching-up over a cup of coffee. We went to Presentation Brothers Juniorate, Montebello, QC and enjoyed some time together. Great to be with old friends. Keep Smiling! 😁🥰

George Adamowitcz sent me this photo and I thought I would share it. From what Mr. Rooney's brother told me he was cremated shortly after his death. There was no memorial service because of the Covid protocols. However if something is organized in the future I will let you know.

It is with a great deal of shock and sadness that I share with you the sad news that Cahill Rooney passed away on Good Friday. He was truly a great man and a good friend. All who had the pleasure of meeting and working with him will have experienced a true gentleman. May he rise with the Lord.

Switch off your lights for an hour on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 8:30 pm your local time. It's Earth Hour. Let us all give Mother Earth a break!

My prayer for 2021 is that the brokenness and death of 2020 will miraculously be transformed into New Life! 🧐😁

Both of our worlds come together in this image. Merry Christmas to all.😘

Hope there is room in our Inn for the Child!

They are on the way with the GIFT OF LIFE. Let us prepare to receive them in our hearts.

What a great opportunity to intertwine the Christ in Christmas with the Santa in our lives. Covid can be a great teacher. 😘

A great thought for this Season in particular. 😘

4th Sunday of Advent. Just one week before our Christ Child arrives in each of our hearts. Let us prepare a place for Him.

The 3rd Sunday of Advent, traditionally known as Gaudete, simply means Rejoice. We live in expectation of the coming of the Child. Let's continue to make room for Him! 😁🥰

2nd Sunday of Advent. PEACE is the motto for this week. I am amused at the statement that some people think they can cancel Christmas. Jesus is coming on December 25th and nobody can stop that. Let us make room for Him in our heart. 😘

The hockey sticks are good for so many different things. LOL

The beginning of the ADVENT SEASON helps us to think about the reason for this season. Time for some spiritual preparation. Be safe but at the same time KEEP SMILING! 😁

Bonne Fete! 🥳

I just want to add for the benefit of newcomers to this page, although the school began its days as a training ground for potential Presentation Brothers, these many years later, this social media page is essentially non-denominational. Some of us former students may still be practicing Catholics, some may still consider themselves Christians, some search for some sort of spiritual meaning, and some of us are atheists. Regardless, all former students, family members, friends are welcome to join and catch up with former classmates.

Here's a picture of Shawn Urlocker, the author of Brothers In Montebello. Anyone remember him? Looks like he was there in the early 1970's but not so early that I {Br. Robert} would have met him. 🧐😁

I just finished reading a book entitled "BROTHERS IN MONTEBELLO" by Shawn Urlocker. Having been both a student and teacher at this illustrious institution I found it a reasonably good read. Not too sure about those who have no idea about the place or people being discussed. 🧐🇨🇦

Today we start Advent, four weeks of preparation. 1st Candle is lit as a sign of HOPE. Lots of happenings will occur between now and Christmas. Embrace them all especially those that come from deep within. 😍

Bishop Alfred Agyenta of the Navrongo Diocese in Ghana visits us in Toronto. He is a past student of mine from Notre Dame in Navrongo. I trust everyone remembers Br. Henry Spencer who continues his Chaplaincy word at Brebeuf College. 😁

In loving memory to all those who gave so much for the freedoms we often take for granted.

How many of you remember this scene? 👀

And what a story each of us is becoming. 😁

Denis Prevost sent me this having found my email address through Greg Donovan. A whole bunch of memories flooded back on seeing this picture. Any of you other guys out there? 🧐

Presentation Brothers Juniorate, nestled on the banks of the Ottawa River, in the picturesque town of Montebello Quebec, has many stories to tell. Each young adolescent boy, brought here by Brothers who were hoping to recruit members for their continued work, were well schooled in a private school environment. Even though most chose other vocations and professions the impact the institution had on each of these young men is a living testament to the positive influence education and formation had on this section of society. We have recently forged an "Ole Boyz" group which has gelled and shows signs of vibrancy. Were you one of these? Get in touch with us. Just leave a message and a contact and we'll find you.

The Gang of 4 wandered through the streets of Toronto without serious incident. Guess it was the good training we had at the "Juniourate". Could also be that I kept the other 3 on a short leash. 😁🧐

During our walk we came across the final resting place of Jack Layton. No matter your politics here lies a great man.

Carl & Art arrived in town for a mini reunion. What a blast. The weather even cooperated.

The last reunion was held in New Brunswick. Here is a cross section of some of those who attended. A superb time was held by all. Stay tuned for more info. 🤓

I'm writing a post so that f'ing Facebook stops irritatingly reminding me to write an update! Have a good one, my friends.

Here is another view of some of the "elderly statesmen" of the Juniorate.
