Today is the last day of this year's regularly scheduled private lessons at LSM! After today, your teacher may see you to complete make-up lessons if you have any left.

If you don't any make-up lessons to complete, have a restful vacation until Summer lessons start!

You know the saying the show must go on? No matter what happens backstage or onstage, musicians must present their performance to the expectant audience.

Lane School of Music violin student Brooksley experienced what is normally just a scary thought, but this time reality! Moments before her recital performance, one of her violin strings snapped!

With some quick thinking and very impressive performing skills, she still managed to serenade the audience without anyone knowing what was happening behind the scenes.

Brooksley shares the whole story of what happened that day and gives a redemption performance of Etude.

It's almost recital season here at the Lane School of Music, so let's see what advice violin teacher Sophie has to share!

Hi, my name is Sophie and I'm a violin teacher at the Lane School of Music! My biggest recital performance practice tip would be to practice performing for other people. Sometimes, we get so locked in on just practicing our notes and making sure that's all ready that we forget that part of the challenge of a recital is performing for other people and the nerves that come with that. What I recommend to my students is to practice performing for other people as much as you possibly can. Sit your sibliding down, your grandparent down, your parents (or guardians, or whoever is around at home) and tell them: "I'm going to do a recital performance for you." You walk in, you have them clap for you, take your bow, play your piece, and then walk off. Something about that practice performance just really helps with nerves in the moment.

Thanks, Sophie!
