“My Time” Campaign Challenge
As you are aware, York University’s branding includes the “My Time” campaign. This includes advertisements that feature an image of a current student, a listing of their degree program, and a brief statement that describes an innovative goal that they envision their York degree helping them achieve.
The Department of Film has been asked to contribute to the 2014-15 campaign. If you are interested in participating, please send us your speculative visions for your future careers. These will be brief snapshots of the innovative and transformative work, technology or practice that you can imagine developing out of the training you have received in your program.
To begin, imagine a time and a need in the future, and provide a summary description of your innovation and its unique impact on society. In your submission, highlight connections between your current training and how you imagine it will be transformed and applied in the future. Think of the ways, for example, that current practices in the field are being transformed by digital cinema technology. How can you imagine your current training helping you succeed in such a future?
Please send your 150 word “My Time” vision to John McCullough, Chair, Dept of Film at [email protected]. Deadline is Friday, April 25, 2014.

"OFFSHORE is a web documentary created by Brenda Longfellow, Glenn Richards and Helios Design Labs that explores the dark waters of the global offshore oil industry in the wake of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion.
We developed a site intro that acts as a short prologue to the experience. The site itself is the 3D virtual world of an imagined oil rig that provides a menacing backdrop for the story to unfold. This preview is very much a work progress and will evolve as the site gets built out."
