This week, we are learning, listening, and reflecting as a school community for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Through assemblies, classroom learning, and read-alouds during recess and lunch, students are exploring stories, voices, and experiences that help us better understand the history and ongoing importance of truth and reconciliation. Thank you to our faculty, staff, and parent volunteers for helping make these learning opportunities possible!

“Just like all living things, our portraits will evolve as we draw“ - Grade 3 Student

Grade 1 through 4 students have started their self-portrait unit by exploring why our facial features look and function the way they do. From observing how eyes allow sight in every direction to how lips shift shape to create different sounds, students are reflecting on the purpose behind each feature as they work through their initial drafts.

On Friday, our entire school gathered at Riverdale Park for our annual Terry Fox Run. Students from JK to Grade 8 moved their bodies for 46 minutes in honour of the 46 year anniversary and Terry’s enduring legacy. Way to go Montcrest!

Our JK–Grade 2 students put their cycling skills to the test at the Bike Rodeo in Riverdale Park, taking on a variety of challenges and stations with confidence and enthusiasm. Students also created signs for their grade-level parking areas and prepared snacks to help fellow riders recharge throughout the event. A special thank you to the many parent, faculty, and staff volunteers whose support, encouragement, and hard work helped make the day such a success.
