Today, our Earth Week learning took root!
Students planted seeds that will eventually grow into plants for our school garden. This hands-on activity helped students think about how small actions can support the environment and contribute to a healthier, greener school community.
As they planted, students discussed what seeds need to grow and how caring for plants connects to caring for the Earth. It was a meaningful way to care for the land we live, learn, and play on.
Glen Briar Academy
Glen Briar Academy is a private elementary school in North Toronto focused on educating through innovative and attentive teaching practices.
This week, our students rolled up their sleeves and headed outside for a school-wide city clean-up.
This Earth Week activity showed that small actions can have a big impact. We were so proud to see everyone working together to care for our community’s outdoor spaces.
In honour of Earth Week, our school community took part in daily activities to strengthen our sense of stewardship for the planet.
On Monday, students wrote land acknowledgements that reflected their connection to the land and their sense of responsibility to care for it. On Tuesday, classrooms unplugged for Lights Out Day, giving students a chance to see how simple changes can help reduce energy consumption. On Wednesday, students transformed recyclables into upcycled treasures, learning that even discarded materials can have a second life. On Thursday, staff and students worked together on a community clean up, showing care for the outdoor spaces we share. On Friday, we tended to our school garden, planting seeds that we know will grow into bright and healthy vegetables.
All of these tasks will extend beyond our week, instilling in our students that everyday ought to be Earth Day.
Spring is here… but we’re still in our snowy era.
As we welcome the first day of spring, we reflect on our winter highlight from February. Can you guess where we went on a field trip?
Watch until the end for clues!
Today our school community came together to celebrate Holi, the vibrant Festival of Colours. Students learned about the significance of this joyful tradition, which marks the arrival of spring and celebrates friendship, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil.
Happy Holi everyone!!!

TAKE A STAND AND LEND A HAND TO SROP BULLYING!
On February 26, Glen Briar Academy came together for Anti-Bullying Day, a day dedicated to kindness, respect, and standing up for one another. Students and staff wore pink to show their support, reminding everyone that bullying has no place in our school.
At Glen Briar Academy, we are committed to making sure every student feels safe, valued, and heard.
