When you have an ′′ ordinary ′′ child, you feel reasonably confident that class influence and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They are invited to participate in social things like dance and weekend gatherings. They make teams, auditions of organizations and clubs.
But when you have a child with certain differences, that's often not the case. Learning can take longer, both professionally and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, the results are often a fraction of their peers, and social acceptance is volatile, adapting to painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and satisfying experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and mission battleground at home. It's exhausting for both parents and children.
This is the week of SPEED (special education), autism, dyslexia and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness.
To all the children who struggle everyday to succeed in a world that doesn't recognize their gifts and talents and for those who walk along them, let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accept ALL people.
Recognize that the ′′ playing field ′′ isn't always a straight surface.
Children learning differently are no wonder. They are just talented in ways our society doesn't value enough. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted!!
If you want to show your support, copy and paste this in honor of all children considered ′′ different ". Our world would be far less beautiful without them ❣️
