We’ve got mail! šŸ’Œ

Our Montessori Canada accreditation plaque has finally arrived, and we couldn’t be prouder to hang it in our front entrance for all to see.

This plaque represents our continued commitment to providing an authentic, high quality Montessori education. As we walk past it each morning, it serves as a daily reminder of our responsibility to uphold the highest standards of excellence. We hope it also reminds our families that you chose a school dedicated to giving your child a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

What an experience. Across the world, and still a feeling of home. Thank you to for welcoming us into your wonderful school.

Our owner, Mary, had the privilege of visiting this beautiful school in Athens, Greece, and connecting over a shared love for Montessori education.

What was most remarkable wasn’t what was different, it was what felt so familiar. The calm, thoughtfully prepared environment. The material lining the shelves. The deep concentration of the children. Their independence, confidence, kindness, and respect for one another. It felt just like home.

This is the beauty of what Maria Montessori created. Her approach transcends language, culture, and geography because it is rooted in something universal: respect for the child.

Standing in a classroom halfway around the world, we saw the very same curiosity, joy, and sense of purpose that we see in our own children every day here in Toronto. It was a beautiful reminder that when we trust children, prepare environments that meet their needs, and honour their natural development, they thrive no matter where they are in the world.

To create this connection across the world is deeply cherished.

Montessori truly has no borders.

We are proud to announce that Odyssey Montessori School has once again been reaccredited by Montessori Canada.

This past fall, we underwent a comprehensive review process that included classroom observations, inspections, reporting, surveys, and evaluations. The process also provided valuable opportunities for reflection and growth through meaningful feedback.

Odyssey has maintained accreditation since 2010, and this recognition remains incredibly important to us. Montessori Canada accreditation is a seal of validation that confirms our commitment to authentic Montessori education and the highest standards of Montessori practice.

Thank you to our dedicated staff, students, and families who help make this achievement possible.

After months of the YCC kiddos celebrating the garbage trucks passing by, we got a visit and a surprise. Thank you to these kind workers who stopped to drop off some little toy trucks for the children. It made their day. We love this community šŸ’•

So heartwarming to see friendships form beyond the classroom walls. We often see Casa children step into a ā€˜big brother or sister’ role for their younger friends in YCC as they so naturally guide and care for them.

The May Odyssey Observer has officially been sent! Odyssey families check your inbox šŸ’Œ

This month we reflect on Maria Montessoriā€˜s powerful vision in one of our favourite reads, ā€œEducation and Peaceā€. We share how we create peace in our classrooms through grace and courtesy, conflict resolution, respect and community responsibility. Creating peace is a daily practice and shows up and so many small moments.

Ever wonder what a morning in our classrooms looks like?

Children arrive from home and step into a calm, welcoming environment prepared just for them. They begin their day with choice, selecting activities that call to their curiosity and readiness.

You might see a child carefully pouring water, reading a book, striking the music bells; listening to each sound carefully, using real scissors to cut yarn, preparing a snack, or working on writing. Each activity has a purpose: strengthening concentration, coordination, independence, and early academic understanding.

The classroom is filled with beautiful natural materials designed for hands on exploration that invite children to move, discover, repeat, and master skills at their own pace.

In our mixed-age Casa community, learning is deeply social. Younger children observe and aspire, older children lead and mentor. Through shared work, children practice problem solving, communication, collaboration, and respectful choice every day.

And of course, all this thoughtfully guided by deeply passionate educators who observe attentively and care for each child based on their unique needs, personalities and interests.

Welcome to a joyful morning at our Christie Campus Casa classroom.
