15 months ago, I was at a low point in my life. I had been rejected from multiple medical schools and was filled with doubt and uncertainty about my future. I didn't know what to do or where to turn, but I never gave up on my dream of becoming a doctor.

Fast forward to today, and I am now a first-year medical student at the prestigious University of Melbourne. Today, I had a life-changing patient interaction that showed me the true joy of practicing medicine.

An elderly patient looked into my eyes and said, "Thank you, Arvin." She was grateful for the time I spent helping her understand her lab results. This simple interaction made all the hardships and struggles worth it, filling me with indescribable happiness.

Today, I was reminded of why I chose this path. The joy of practicing medicine and truly making a difference in people's lives is unparalleled.

My journey has shown me that with perseverance, determination, and a strong support system, even the most difficult obstacles can be overcome.

Now I understand what Napoleon Hill meant when he said, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." It's not the conceiving or achieving that's the hard part - it's believing.

And it's a thousand times easier to believe in yourself and your goals when you have the right people around you. Surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals, and you will be unstoppable.

To anyone struggling with doubt or setbacks… I want to tell you that you ARE capable of achieving your dreams. Believe in yourself and your dreams, and amazing things can happen.

Love,
Arvin

There has been days that I thought to myself:

"when is this long medical school journey be over?
-I can't wait to finish MCAT and be done with
-I can't wait to finish undergrad and be done with these courses
-I can wait to finish medical school, I can't wait to finish residency.
-I can't wait to ...."

Do you relate to that?

But you know what? Looking back I wish I had more fun with the process. Looking back I realize how much fun it was studying with friends for MCAT. To work on the dream. It's not about achieving. It's about the whole journey you're on.

Love the journey, because if you don't, with a blink of an eye you will be 80 years old and thinking you sacrificed everything without enjoying life..

This is life. The process of creating "you".

Every one of us has experienced this world in our own unique ways. Embrace your life story and use it to change the world for the better!

What will be your legacy...?

Have you ever felt that your life is determined more by what other people and society expect from you, rather than your own conscious choices and decisions??

In Iranian culture, when you are growing up, you are expected to become a doctor or an engineer. Then you should get married in your 20's (especially for girls) because that is the “right age for marriage”. Then have children, and live happily ever after!

Growing up, we blindly follow other people and accept what we are told about life. We rarely question these norms or dare to step out of this path that everyone is pushing us towards. But does living this life really make us truly happy and fulfilled?
..
..
I'm honored to be invited this year to speak at the YorkU's TEDx event! I will be sharing my graduation story; as well as talking about why not following the cultural criteria of a "good life" will lead to experiencing a deeper meaning and joy in your life.

The TEDx event is at 6pm on February 28th, at York University's new student center. To buy your tickets, visit page and follow the link in their bio.

Hope to see you there!😉🙌

یک شب خیلی خوب با ۳ تا از بهترین کوچ های تورنتو در یک سمینار انگیزشی. باعث افتخار بود که نقش کوچکی در برگزاری این سمینار داشتم 😌🇨🇦🇮🇷
