This is a long overdue post.I'm sure many of you have heard that English Cafe is going on hiatus for the time. We would like to be able to restart it as soon as possible but given this uncertain times, it's hard to say for sure. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who supported English Cafe. It has been a pleasure and an honour to be part of your English language learning journey. Good luck to you all. I am also grateful to who gave me this opportunity. I hope we can collaborate again soon. However, this isn't goodbye. I am here should you need me. Please feel free to reach out. I look forward to hearing from you all.

For today's English Cafe, we talked about how certain hashtags can confuse people. My favourite is which confused a lot of people because they thought it's "now that Cher's dead" when it's actually "now Thatcher's dead". Do you have any similar ones to add? Comment below!

Yet another hobby that I've been doing more of during the lockdown is listening to music and catching up on my favourite shows. While I do have a subscription to streaming services, I still do like owning physical media. While it may seem cumbersome compared to the convenience of Spotify or Netflix, there's something comforting about being able to watch my favourite show when the internet goes down 😅How about you, do you have a preference? Or maybe just a recommendation on a new series to watch or an artist to listen to? Comment down below!

For this week's English Cafe, the topic is Celebrity Crushes! Let's reminisce about a time when our respect and admiration for someone was so strong, we would do anything to feel closer to them (in my case, it was learning to play bass guitar)!

Another hobby I've gotten back into is writing. I've been collecting notebooks and journals for as long as I can remember. Recently, I've also gotten into writing and collecring fountain pens. Although, I do keep a journal, most of the actual writing I have done during the lockdown is letter writing. Typing away at a keyboard is definitely more efficient but there's definitely a bit of magic when the pen touches paper and ideas form on the page.

Toronto has entered another lockdown due to the covid19 pandemic. One silver lining from all of these is that it's given me more time indulge and get back to my hobbies. One of them is reading and it just so happens that I received this wonderful edition of the first Harry Potter book. I've read the whole series several times over but I doubt I'll stop. Do you have any books or stories that you like to read over and over? How do you feel about the Harry Potter stories? Any suggestions or recommendations?
