The Association of Political Science Students is the course union for all students enrolled in political science at The University of Toronto.

We strive to build connections between students, academics and practioners while creating forums for discussion. Welcome to the newly revamped Association of Political Science Students at the University of Toronto. We strive to recognize Aristotle's "Zoon Politikon"- Man is a political animal. So if you're enrolled in the Department of Political Science, have taken a POL course, or are simply interested in political science, join us! APSS is excited to announce that the POLIS Undergraduate Journal of Political Science is now accepting submissions for its 13th edition! 🙌🙌🙌

The POLIS Journal is committed to promoting leading undergraduate work and research, coming from the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. This is a chance to showcase your work, and gain exposure through an academic platform📝

This year’s theme is “No Time Left”
Right now, across the world, irreversible processes affecting billions of people are underway. From genocide to climate change catastrophes, these events have massive tolls and grave consequences for current and future generations. This year’s topic is about those events. We want to hear what you think deserves the world’s attention, before it’s too late. ⏰ ⏳📰

ALSO: For the first time in POLIS history, we will be accepting ART SUBMISSIONS! From poetry to collages, we want to see your political art!

Any undergraduate student enrolled at the University of Toronto may submit to POLIS as long as your submission is relevant to the field of political science. As political science is a broad and encompassing discipline, we encourage diverse interpretations of this theme, and aim to receive submissions from various classes across the University👀

Submissions must be formatted in adherence to the 18th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style, utilizing an in-text citation (author date page number), ex: (Wilson 2004, 8).

Submissions must be: academic essays, papers, policy memos, or articles which have received a grade of at least 80 (A-). All students interested in submitting can apply through the link in our linktree 🥳🤔

The deadline to submit is Sunday, October 11th, 2026 at 11:59PM‼️‼️‼️

Editor applications are open for POLIS, the UofT Undergraduate Journal of Political Science! The following positions are available:

- Managing Editor (1)
- The Managing Editor will assist the Editor-in-Chief in coordinating the editing team and making the process run smooth.

- Associate Editor (4)
- Associate Editors will be charged with structural and line-editing. This involves—but is not limited to—edits regarding gaps in research, the coherence of arguments, and narrative flow. Each editor will receive 2-3 submissions and will collaborate 1-on-1 with authors over multiple rounds of reviews.

- Content Editor (2)
- Content Editors will be tasked with verifying the sources in each submission, making sure they are interpreted correctly and used effectively.

- Copy Editor (2)
- Copy Editors will ensure that papers are technically perfect. They will help correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and readability as well as guarantee correct formatting and citations.

- - Designer/Art Editor (2)
- Designers/Art Editors will be responsible for two main roles:
- 1) Art editors: Initially, they will review and select art submissions for the journal, contacting authors for text-based editing, if needed.
- 2) Designers: Once done, they will design the journal, from ideation to final ex*****on, with feedback from the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor.

📋Election Season has started! The APSS is holding its annual spring elections. 🗳️

As of today, you may officially nominate yourself to run for membership within the APSS executive for the 2026-27 academic year.📚

If you’re interested in getting more involved in the political science community, now’s the time to run! Swipe to see more information about nomination/campaigning deadlines and the responsibilities associated with each role.➡️
