In September 2004, OCAD's eye-catching Rosalie Sharp Centre for Design building officially opened, with the iconic "tabletop" structure on full display for the city.

Designed by British architect Will Alsop in partnership with Toronto-based Robbie/Young + Wright Architects, this award-winning building adds a pop of colour the Toronto skyline, and continues to turn heads of locals, tourists, and miniatures alike to this day. It was a no brainer to include to our Mini Toronto Zone!

Our day-to-night cycle lasts 15 minutes. You know what else happens almost every 15 minutes? The Westminister chime whistles play through the Gastown steam clock in Vancouver. Coincidence? We think not 😉

The Gastown district's iconic steam Victorian-era-inspired steam clock was built by Raymond Saunders in 1977 at the corner of Cambie St. and Water St. It's star power goes far beyond its Vancouver limits, having been featured on 's Here and Now album cover, in a scene from Chuck Norris' The Hitman, and as part of the "Vancouver Velocity" race course on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour (). That's one heck of a resume! 🤩

On September 18, 1846 the Maid of the Mist crossed the border into Niagara Falls for the first time ever as a border ferry and only became a tourist attraction in 1848. Today, we know it as a classic Niagara Falls must-do, and of course we have it in miniature here at Pocket Planet Canada ⛴️

Our friends at IKEA sent us the tiniest KALLAX we’ve ever seen, co-designed with Swedish miniature artist (Christopher Robin Nordström).

There’s nothing we love more than turning the familiar into something you can see from a whole new perspective, so naturally, we’re very into IKEA’s idea of starting small and making space for the things you love. ❤️
