The EU’s Erasmus+ program has reached a historic milestone: since the programme began in 1987, one million students from Germany have gone abroad for a study or internship placement with funding from Erasmus+ with nearly the same number coming the other way. These figures were announced last month by Germany’s National Agency for Erasmus+ University Cooperation located within the DAAD headquarters in Bonn. Applications are currently being accepted for the International Parliamentary Scholarship, a five-month program which offers politically and socially engaged recent university graduates the chance to become familiar with Germany’s democracy and its institutions. Highlight of the program is a three-month placement in the office of a member of the German national parliament, the Bundestag.
