Okay, maybe we’re judging you a little. 👀

Buying a business can be an incredible path to entrepreneurship. But having the capital is only one part of being ready to become an owner.

You need to know what kind of business you should be searching for. How to assess whether an opportunity is actually a good one. How deals are financed. What questions to ask. Who you need around you. And eventually, how to step into the business and lead it.

That’s why we created Venture for Canada’s ETA Bootcamp.

Over five weeks, aspiring owner-operators work through the acquisition journey alongside experienced operators, investors, lenders and advisors, while building connections with others exploring the same path.

And the timing in Canada makes understanding this path particularly interesting: more than $2 trillion in business assets could change hands as Canadian business owners prepare to exit. 🇨🇦

A lot of future business owners don’t know their future business already exists.

When most people think about entrepreneurship, they picture starting with an idea, finding customers and building a company from the ground up.

But there’s another path to entrepreneurship: buying and operating an existing business.

It’s called Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA), and it’s opening up a very different way for Canadians to think about business ownership specially right now. When 76% of Canadian owners plan to exit by 2033. It is the largest transfer of private business in the country’s history, and its happening deal by deal in cities like Toronto

These are a few glimpses from Venture for Canada’s ETA programs, where aspiring owner-operators come together to learn from people who have bought, operated, financed and advised businesses themselves.

Our hybrid model combines the flexibility of virtual learning with the parts of this journey that are especially valuable in person: meeting experts, building relationships, exchanging ideas and connecting with a community of people exploring the same path.

Participants learn how to search for the right business, evaluate opportunities, understand financing, navigate an acquisition and prepare for what comes after the deal: actually becoming an owner-operator.

For some people, the next step in their career might not be another job. And it might not be starting a company from zero either.

The business they’ll own may already be out there.

Big news for our first Solopreneurship cohort. 👀

Every participant in Venture for Canada’s upcoming Solopreneurship Program will receive Claude Max at no cost, giving them access to one of Anthropic’s most advanced AI plans as they build their business.

This matters because AI is a core part of how we’re approaching solopreneurship.
Over six weeks, participants won’t simply learn how to use AI tools. They’ll build an AI-powered operating system around their own business, exploring how AI can support research, customer insights, content, operations and the everyday work of running a business as a team of one.

Up to 50 solopreneurs. Six weeks. One business to build. And now, a pretty powerful co-founder. 😉
