Using Values to Raise your Children
Parents who understand the concept of values and the importance of instilling them in their children have a tremendous tool to influence and protect them from the negative influences of the outside world.
Parents are not powerless in the face of our culture and the media that challenge their beliefs and make practicing healthy parenting feel like an exercise in "swimming upstream".
Knowing what you value might help you decide when and how to intervene in a situation with your children. If you notice your child behaving in a way that goes against a value you wish to inculcate in them, it could be a sign that they need to learn something, whether it is kindness, generosity, responsibility, honesty, or anything else.

“The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.”
— Billy Graham, evangelist

Children must be given the opportunity to try things and attempt to be competent by themselves to reach their potential.
They can take a long time to do things that we, as adults, take for granted but these are new abilities that a child must acquire and practice in order to become self-sufficient. Children learning new abilities require patience and encouragement from teachers, as well as plenty of praise for their accomplishments.
Praise for accomplishments improves a child's self-esteem and gives them the confidence to try new things independently in the future.

Montessori is a child-led teaching style that places children in a structured learning environment where they can pick their own activities.
The concept is that by allowing children to make their own decisions, learn and develop at their own pace, they will gain confidence, independence, and self-esteem, as well as lay the groundwork for a lifetime of learning.
Through exploration of the world around them and the use of their imagination, the holistic approach strives to enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive talents.

One of the most crucial aspects that affect learning is the classroom environment.
A perfect learning environment is one in which students perceive their classrooms to be positive and encouraging, as well as a place where they feel safe and secure.
A good, supportive atmosphere is a necessary component of learning. A student feels at ease in a favourable atmosphere, one in which healthy connections with peers and teachers flourish.
Learning becomes something that children easily adjust to and look forward to in a happy setting.

Playtime is essential for your child's emotional, social, and physical growth. But, it is about so much more than having a good time.
School-aged children who are left to their own devices to have fun are tremendously inventive. Make-believe play, such as playing "school" or "shop" and building snow forts, painting projects, or tag-type activities, allows children to choose the rules and assign responsibilities, requiring negotiating skills and quick thinking. All activities mentioned above need greater physical activity than simply sitting in front of the television.
Parents must provide time for their children to play in a safe environment in order for them to reap the full benefits of play. While children must be watched, this should be done from a safe distance. Allowing children to use their imaginations will benefit their development tremendously. Allow the game to take its course and observe where it leads, only redirecting if necessary.

We can all underestimate the magnitude of each small new development.
Those precious "firsts" aren't simply sweet memories for us to treasure; they're also significant developmental milestones for our children.
But, are all children created equal, or do underlying circumstances influence their developmental timeline?
Important factors that influence children
1. Genetics
2. Health and Nutrition
3. Gender
4. Environment
5. Family
