Lakehead University is proud to announce a $600,000 gift from TD Bank Group in support of the Gichi Kendaasiwin Constellation: a collaborative network of Indigenous-led programs, supports and culturally grounded spaces designed to help Indigenous students feel welcomed, connected and supported throughout their Lakehead experience.

TD's investment will help expand:
✅ Indigenous mentorship and pathways to postsecondary education
✅ Access to Elders and Indigenous knowledge holders
✅ Opportunities to learn from Indigenous scholars
✅ Culturally grounded spaces for learning, gathering, ceremony and community connection on our Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses

The impact will reach beyond the classroom- strengthening relationships with communities, supporting Indigenous knowledge and ways of learning, and helping students build pathways toward graduation, careers and meaningful contributions to their communities.

We’re grateful to TD for investing in a more connected and welcoming Lakehead community and helping turn our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation into meaningful action.

When young people can see a future for themselves, anything is possible. 💙

Lakehead University is setting its sights on a new $2-million fundraising goal for the Achievement Program, and the Alumni Association of Lakehead University is helping lead the way with a $64,517 commitment to kick-start this next chapter.

The Achievement Program supports equity-deserving youth from Grade 4 through Grade 12, helping them build confidence, discover their potential and see themselves as belonging in a postsecondary environment.

And the impact is already being felt. In 2025–26, the program reached 500 students from 45 schools across six school boards in Northwestern Ontario. Eight Achievement Program graduates have attended Lakehead since 2020, with three more expected to begin their studies this September.

This next $2 million isn't just a fundraising goal. It's an investment in young people, their futures and the communities they will one day help lead.

We're proud to support the Achievement Program and help create more opportunities for the next generation.

We have some incredibly exciting news to share! Vétérinov has officially pledged $50,000 to Lakehead University’s Collaborative Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program (CDVMP).

With veterinary shortages impacting communities across the North, Lakehead’s collaborative program is a game-changer for regional and northern animal care.

From household pets to livestock, the future of animal health depends on exceptional training and support. We are honoured to stand alongside Veterinov to help make that future a reality.
