Welcome back renowned artists, baritone François Le Roux, and pianist Jeff Cohen for this year’s FCAVA winter residency! 🎶✨
Through the support of Fondation DRG, 6 selected duos from the summer academy will be performing in public masterclasses and concerts throughout Toronto.

Biographies:
François Le Roux is one of the most recognized French opera artists. After starting at the opéra-studio de Paris, he joined the troupe of the opéra de Lyon in 1980, beginning a career that took him to national and international stages. His artistic journey reflects a diversified exploration of repertoires, spanning from the 17th to the 20th century. From Monteverdi to Debussy, he tackled various composers and styles, such as baroque opera, works by Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Puccini, and many others.
Jeff Cohen: currently a professor at the Conservatoire de Paris, he has served as coach at La Monnaie in Brussels, musical director at the Théâtre du Châtelet, and advisor to the Bibliothèque nationale de France for a concert series devoted to French mélodie. He has performed with many artists, including Roberto Alagna, June Anderson, Cecilia Bartoli, Yann Beuro, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and more.

Held at the Église Saint-Prix in Noizay, France, the Concert de Clôture was a celebration of the inspiring and productive work that 12 talented duos from Canada and France achieved in their 2 weeks in Tours, France. They performed the works of Ravel, Jamar, Durey, Barber, Bizet, Clark, Poulenc, Debussy, and many more amazing composers. 🎹🎤

🎶 Meet our composer-in-residence for FCAVA 2025 — Andrew James Clark!
Andrew is a Toronto-based Canadian composer whose music has been recognized by ensembles including the Hamilton Philharmonic, Scarborough Philharmonic, and Etobicoke Philharmonic. He was recently named a NextGen Composer by Gustavo Gimeno and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, with a new work to be featured in their 2024–25 season.
A passionate advocate for accessible music-making, Andrew was recognized for sustaining a music therapy program for elderly and homeless musicians, as well as for his Classical Context concert series, featured in Ludwig Van’s “Critic’s Picks.”

🎶 Meet our sixth and final duo for FCAVA 2025 — Mia Robles (mezzo-soprano) and Adrian Tsui (piano)!
Mia is a Dutch-Peruvian mezzo-soprano in UofT’s Voice Performance program. A National Scholar and scholarship recipient, she has appeared with Toronto Operetta Theatre and Summer Opera Lyric Theatre. Mia is passionate about expanding her repertoire and looks forward to developing her artistry internationally.
Adrian is a pianist from Vancouver, currently studying at UofT with Dr. Megan Chang. A finalist in the 2023 OMFA provincials and Kiwanis prizewinner, Adrian has performed in international festivals like Amalfi Coast and Gijón, and continues to refine his craft through masterclasses with leading artists.

🎶 Meet our fifth FCAVA 2025 duo: Joshua Gibson (baritone) and Rocco Marciano (piano)!
Currently completing his undergraduate degree in Voice Performance at UofT, Joshua has appeared in productions with SOLT, COSA, St. Anne’s Music and Drama Society, and Toronto Operetta Theatre. This summer, he looks forward to taking his studies abroad and deepening his interpretation of French mélodie.
Rocco is a pianist, baritone, and conductor in his second year of a comprehensive music degree at UofT. In addition to over 15 years of piano experience, he is deeply involved in Toronto’s choral scene and active as a conductor, performer, and collaborator across multiple disciplines.
