Canada is creating a one-time opportunity for 33,000 skilled temporary workers already in the country to transition to permanent residence in 2026 and 2027. 🇨🇦
But here’s the important part: this is not an open PR pathway for everyone.
According to IRCC, the initiative is focused on workers who have been living in smaller Canadian communities for at least 2 years and who have already applied for permanent residence through specific programs, including the Provincial Nominee Program, Atlantic Immigration Program, Rural Community Immigration Pilot, Francophone Community Immigration Pilot, caregiver pilots and Agri-Food Pilot.
IRCC plans to admit at least 20,000 of these workers in 2026, with the remaining admissions taking place in 2027.
So, if you're already working in Canada, this is the time to understand whether your current immigration pathway and circumstances fit the initiative.
📌 Don’t assume you qualify. Check your pathway and eligibility first.
