In honour of , the International Languages Elementary and African Heritage Program celebrates the languages that shape our identities, cultures, and communities. We proudly support multilingualism and language learning every day and invite you to join us in recognizing the importance of preserving and promoting mother tongues around the world.

ILE/AH students and staff at David Lewis PS celebrated Chinese New Year yesterday with a vibrant traditional lion dance and a special instructor performance! 🧧🐉✨

Spanish and Tamil classes at Mason Road PS and Cornell PS explored working with numbers through hands-on, language-rich activities that supported all learners. We love seeing language and math connect! 🔢🗣️ ileahprograms.ca

The launch of Tamil Heritage Month at Brookside PS showcased outstanding performances by our talented ILE/AH students. Thank you to our ILE/AH PO, Shakila Nandan, and our instructors. Congratulations to the committee for their dedication and hard work. This year’s theme: Unity is Strength – Rise One, Rise All. 🤲

ILE/AH students at Brookmill Blvd JPS are active and engaged in reading Mandarin and Tamil, practicing songs and tongue twisters, and ordering food in their target languages. Their confidence and enthusiasm for language learning continue to grow. 👏☺️

❄️All in-person Continuing Education after school and evening courses are also cancelled. This includes International Languages Elementary and African Heritage.

All TDSB schools, sites and administrative buildings (including Child Care centres) will be closed to students and most staff on Monday, January 26, due to ongoing snow removal and a Major Snow Storm Condition and Significant Weather Event declared by the City of Toronto.

Students at Milne Valley MS performed in their Winter Concert, while West Glen JS showcased Romanian poetry. Big thanks to our ILE/AH instructors, staff, school leaders, and students for making these moments possible! 👏

Our Gr 2–3 ILE Mandarin (Simplified) students at Tam O’Shanter JPS have been busy! 📚✏️ They’re reading, measuring, counting, and learning how to write sentences. So much learning happening in one classroom!

⚠️In response to Environment Canada’s continued Snowfall Warning for the City of Toronto, the TDSB has made the decision to close all schools, administrative buildings and sites to students and staff today – Thursday, January 15.

All in-person Continuing Education after school and evening courses are also cancelled, including the International Languages Elementary and African Heritage Programs.
