Summer in Canada means crazy long days! It’s still bright out even at 8 or 9pm!
Having a picnic in the park after school, watching the sunset at the beach… Making the most of your afternoons in the nature is one of the best parts of studying in Canada during summer! How would you spend these extra-long evenings?

Today marks 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆. This is a day dedicated to celebrating their history, diverse cultures, and vital contributions, while also serving as an opportunity for widespread learning. You may find local events nearby showcasing traditional dances and musical performances.

The first photo was taken when our students visited Victoria. The second and the third one show the day the Reconciliation Pole was raised at UBC. And the fourth photo is of a totem pole carved by an Ainu, Indigenous people of northern Japan, who has shared a long-standing, close connection with the Indigenous peoples of Canada.

MLI is happy to share with you the 2 winners of our first Katsumi Memorial Scholarship.

The Katsumi Memorial Scholarship honours the legacy of Katsumi, a member of the MLI team who was a compassionate advocate for international students and dedicated her professional life in Canada to supporting high-school students exploring Canada through education and cultural exchange.

As part of the application process, candidates conducted their own research and delivered presentations about their initiatives in Canada and their future outlook. Following a rigorous selection process, these two students were chosen. Our staff was deeply inspired by their presentations! We wish them both soaring success in life and will always be cheering them on. Congratulations!

The first Monday of September is Labour Day in Canada. It is a holiday to celebrate workers. It is the last long weekend of summer and perceived by many as an opportunity to enjoy the great Canadian outdoors. Barbecues, canoe trips, camping, outdoor games, spending time with family and friends are all activities enjoyed in Canada this weekend.
