Thessaloniki is a city built on strength, culture, and resilience — and so many remarkable women have helped shape its story.
From Eleni Skoura, the first woman elected to the Greek Parliament, to Katerina Sakellaropoulou, born in Thessaloniki and becoming the first female President of Greece… from the legendary voice of Marinella, who carried Greek music to the world, to women in medicine, leadership, the arts, and community who quietly transformed lives around them.
Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate not only these trailblazers but also the women around us who continue to build, lead, nurture, and inspire every single day.
Women who lift others.
Women who lead with integrity.
Women who create change simply by refusing to stand still.
May we continue to support one another, open doors for the next generation, and keep proving that when women rise, entire communities rise with them.
Happy International Women’s Day.
