Macaulay Centres for Children

Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Government of Ontario for helping make expanded after-school programming possible at Macaulay!

Last week, we celebrated the impact of a $567,300 Grow Grant that enabled our After-School Program to expand from 3 to 5 days per week. It was inspiring to hear directly from children and families and see students proudly demonstrate their coding projects and new skills.

Together, we're creating more opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our little ones are getting ready for school! ✨🎒🏫

At EarlyON, we believe every child deserves a smooth, supportive transition into the school system.

Thanks to the hard work of Subhashini and Tina, they developed a specialized School Readiness Program specifically to support children on the autism spectrum as they prepare for kindergarten! ✏🧩

From the moment they arrive, these young learners practice real-world school skills:

🧥 Hanging up their own coats
⭕ Sitting engaged during circle time
🥪 Mastering the art of opening snack containers
🚶‍♂️ Practice lining up for the washroom

The results? Amazing growth! The children are blooming, building social skills, and stepping into their next chapter with huge smiles and growing confidence. Parents have been a vital part of the journey every step of the way. ❤️

Turning an unexpected disruption into a moment of connection💡

An unexpected fire evacuation at our head office could have been a scary situation for our little ones, but our incredible Speech and Language team turned it into a total adventure!

While waiting safely outside for the all-clear, our team leaned into the excitement and used the moment to practice communication skills in the real world. A massive thank you to the fantastic firefighters who not only kept us safe but went above and beyond to hang out with the kids waiting for speech therapy. There were smiles all around, lots of great conversations, and even some cool stickers to take home! 🎟️

Kudos to our staff for their adaptability, and thank you to our local emergency services for their warmth and dedication! 🧑‍🚒👏

🧘‍♀️✨ A dedicated space for Moms to pause, breathe, and pour back into themselves. ✨🧘‍♀️

Recently, our main office transformed into a sanctuary for moms during our Wellness Series!
This weekly gathering offered moms a supportive, judgment-free space to step away from the daily hustle and reconnect with their own emotional well-being. 🌸

Through heartfelt connection, reflection, and practical self-care tools, these incredible moms learned ways to nurture themselves beyond their parenting roles.

To make sure they could truly relax, we provided:

👶 On-site child minding so the little ones were safe and having fun
🧘‍♂️ A weekly 30-minute yoga session to help stretch out stress and find inner calm

Because a happy, healthy family starts with a supported parent. 🌟

Stronger leadership = a stronger Macaulay! 🚀✨

Our management team recently gathered for an inspiring, in-person session focused on leadership, collaboration, and inclusion across the Macaulay!

The day kicked off with an interactive leadership communications workshop led by MacPhie, where our managers sharpened their skills in coaching, delivering feedback, and navigating important conversations. 🧠💬

After a fun, HR-led trivia activity to reconnect, the team transitioned into a deeply meaningful presentation on our recent Staff Inclusion Survey.

They explored key themes and actionable opportunities to further enhance equity, inclusion, and psychological safety at Macaulay. 🤝❤️

The day wrapped up with powerful closing reflections from our CEO, Charles Abayomi, reinforcing our shared commitment to continuous learning and cultivating a workplace culture where everyone thrives.

Outdoor learning is an essential pillar of licensed child care. It’s not just a wonderful way to play - it’s actually a licensing requirement for both Child Care Centres and Home Child Care!

Our Macaulay Home Child Care providers love taking learning outside, transforming local parks and green spaces into vibrant classrooms.
