Happy Easter Monday 🐣πŸ₯°

I hope everyone had a safe Good Friday and celebrated Easter with the intentions to give thanks. Regardless if you are religious, the story behind Easter is reminding those that "Jesus" was resurrected and ascended into heaven at the right hand of God. This act of mercy can show one of many things, but for myself is shows compassion. He didn't want his son living in hell, so he did what any good parent would've done; he saved him.

A helpful hand goes a long way, in todays society. After COVID, we sure have all definitely seen a shift in the way many reach or for help; or ask for assistance at all! It's a difficult time getting back to a normal sense of living, but I ask if those to show compassion and mercy when applicable 🀍

Rather be a do-Goode, than the one who puts those down further!

Peace & love,

From the invention of the light blub to the various Martin Luther King Kr and Malcom X marches, the Black community has had their hands full praying and hoping for change; for a better future and opportunities.

For the month of February, we embrace and learn of the important attributes and contributions that African-Americans have had within our society. We celebrate the liberation from slavery and hope to teach our generations, growing before us, to be more considerate, mindful and accountable with their words and actions.

My favourite African-American figure is Rosa Parks. She was a tired women, who was done being treated unfairly on the bus. With bags in tote, she made a risky decision and stuck by it; despite the fall out it ensued. There's obviously more to that story, but I seen myself in her. A young black-Canadian who was homeless, carrying bags everywhere; tired of being abused. I didn't want domestic (family) abuse to be the stable I grew up on, to accept. I wanted healthier ways to express myself and be connected to those around me.

Go to your local library or even search on Netflix or Disney, and find a medium to read or watch; that will shed more light on all that has come and is yet to be!

The winter season brings on sadness & symptoms of depression for many who experienced seasonal affective disorder. Do your best to find the positives, within every day and worry less about the stress and/or negative thoughts that sometimes creep in uninvited.

When in doubt? Reach out to someone you trust or seek a community support! There's no reason to be sitting home feeling worse than you already do; so let's make a game plan to change that!πŸŽ‰

Game plan when feeling down this winter season:
-reach out to a social support (family or trusted friend)
-assess how I feel after talking with my social support
-is there anything I can do? Is there something that needs to change? Where do I go for _____?
-if feeling worse or need additional support; call community supports and resources to secure the needed aide required
-if I feel worse and my thoughts are to harm myself, another person or aren't healthy enough to think clearly- I'll call 9-11 for help and go to the hospital.

That is one example of a safety plan and what a person might put into theirs; to hold them accountable and ensure they're honouring their goals. Please ensure you are honouring and respecting your mind, just as you respect and honour your body! Always seek support when in need and ask for help if you aren't able to make the connections for services yourself.

Your shadow trails behind you, why not have a strong resource list as well! 🀍

Today we celebrate Dr Martin Luther King's birthday and legacy!πŸŽ‰πŸ€

He wasn't only Baptist minister, but also a prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. We are encouraged to use the day to reflect on the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change espoused by the late Dr King.

Racial inequality and racialized crime has been on the rise, the past few years, and we should take stock of the effects & repercussions it's had on our society and way of living. Be the change you wish to see within our society and start small with yourself. Live in accordance with being productive and sustaining our world, with as much positive action; picking your battles when it comes to negative encounters. Rise above adversity the best you can!πŸ™πŸΎ

You will forever be remembered as a pillar in the civil rights movement that has created change and fostered further development- Dr. king ❀️

Rest In peace & thank you for your fight!
