On August 9, IAESC recognizes the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, cultures, languages, knowledge and contributions of Indigenous Peoples around the world. We remain committed to supporting Indigenous-led education and advancing opportunities that place Indigenous learners, communities and ways of knowing at the center.

One Year Anniversary - CECE Joint Program Pathway - Indigenous Advanced Education & Skills Council 08/05/2026

A year ago today, IAESC and the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) announced a joint program approval pathway for Indigenous Institutes looking to offer Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma programs.

When Indigenous Institutes submit a program review application to IAESC to offer an ECE program, the application will be reviewed against standards that meet both IAESC and the CECE's program requirements. This helps to reduce administrative barriers and allows for graduates of the programs to be recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Biidwewdamowaad Nimkiig Biidaabang Certificate - Kenjgewin Teg 07/30/2026

At our most recent Indigenous Institutes Quality Assessment Board (IIQAB) meeting, Teg received approval for their program review application for the Biidwewdamowaad Nimkiig Niidaabang Certificate program. A hybrid Anishinaabemowin language program offered in partnership with Learning. The program has a general stream and a teaching stream.

Indigenous post-secondary institution steps up to help wildfire evacuees - APTN News 07/24/2026

Today, FNTI with support from staff, community, and a number of organizations, sent 22 (!!) skids of donations and supplies up north to Thunder Bay for the communities affected by the wild fires.
