An independent, co-educational Montessori school for children 2 1/2 - 14 years of ages. Avalon is the only private school in the Beach to offer a full elementary education to our students.

For the next 20+ years, we will continue to honour Terry Fox — his courage, his determination, and his vision of a world without cancer.

It’s a beautiful day for the national school Terry Fox run. Avalon has been doing this run for 21 years and so far we have raised over $55,000. We are so proud of our small community and also proud to be Canadians when we think about someone like Terry Fox.

This inexpensive toy brought so much joy today! The kids had a lot of fun throwing, chasing, losing and finding the flying discs at recess today. Sometimes, simple is better.

Sometimes we get mixed up. Sometimes things don’t go as we planned. It happens. Working through challenges, finding solutions, and trusting oneself builds resiliency. A Montessori environment is designed to foster independence, to support kids as they try new things, make mistakes, fall down, and get back up again.

The elementary aged child is gaining independence and exploring life outside the home. School is the place where they should feel safe, where they should have the time and space to explore who they are through interactions with others. Sometimes, those interactions will be smooth and joyful, sometimes they will be bumpy and painful. They are all valuable and help children gain valuable social skills while building resilience. We aim to provide an environment where children feel comfortable to grow and explore while knowing that we are always there for them. This is Avalon.
