Spanish police have arrested 13 suspected members of Venezuela’s notorious Tren de Aragua gang, marking the group’s first major takedown in Europe. The arrests took place across Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Girona, and A Coruña, as part of a large-scale operation targeting one of South America’s most violent and fast-expanding criminal networks.
Authorities say the suspects are accused of human trafficking, drug dealing, and sexual exploitation. During raids, police discovered two clandestine drug labs, including one producing “pink co***ne” (tusi) — a synthetic mix of M**A, ketamine, and co***ne popular in Latin America’s club scene.
Tren de Aragua, which began inside a Venezuelan prison, has grown into a transnational crime syndicate operating in at least a dozen countries across the Americas. The gang is known for its ruthless violence, extortion, and control over migrant smuggling routes.
Spanish officials described the arrests as a “decisive blow” to the group’s expansion into Europe, warning that it reflects a new phase of global organized crime, where Latin American gangs are extending their reach far beyond home soil.
