After 30 years of proudly bringing quality Montessori teaching materials and educational toys to Canadians, we recently made the decision to exit the business. While this decision was bittersweet, we are delighted to inform our customers that we are in discussions with several parties who are interested in acquiring Thinkamajigs and continuing to bring you the products and the level of service that you have come to expect.

While we work through that process, 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡. Our inventory is currently a little depleted, but that will be remedied in the coming months as the new owners work to bring things back up to speed, restock, and begin to introduce new products and services.

Focus is a crucial skill for children, both academically and socially. The Montessori method is intentionally designed to develop a child’s focus and concentration through a combination of environment, materials, and teaching strategies.

Montessori’s prepared environment in the classroom reduces distractions and encourages children to focus on the task at hand.

Teaching materials are designed to be self-correcting and multi-sensory, emphasizing hands-on engagement and presenting a progression from simple to more complex activities. This helps kids develop focus as they work through increasingly sophisticated exercises.

Montessori teachers are trained to observe and respect the child’s focus. If a child is deeply engaged in a task, teachers avoid interrupting, allowing them to complete their work at their own pace without being rushed or pressured to finish quickly.

At home, it’s important to set realistic expectations based on your child's age and developmental stage. Young children have shorter attention spans, so be aware of their limits. Using timers or visual schedules helps kids understand and manage their time.

Every child is unique and what works for one may not work for another. Be flexible and adjust your approach to best suit your child's needs and current learning style. Consistent practice and positive reinforcement are key to helping children develop and maintain good focus skills.
