We thank and acknowledge social justice advocate, Dr. Rosemary Sadlier, OOnt who was instrumental in helping to secure the recognition of Emancipation Day as a municipal, provincial and national event. 🇨🇦
Today we commemorate Emancipation Day when the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect in 1834 freeing the enslaved.
In Canada, Emancipation Day is a time to reflect on the history and lasting impact of slavery on Black and Indigenous Peoples, and to celebrate their resilience and contributions.
Education is key to recognizing and acknowledging past injustices and promoting a more equitable future. Let’s do our part by learning, growing and taking steps toward a positive future for all.
Thank you, Dr. Sadlier.

Last Monday at this time, our entire school was headed back on the bus from our day-long visit to . 🐡🪼🐙🐠
We owe a huge amount of gratitude to our CGS parents and CGS Parents Association for their generosity in designing, coordinating and supporting this school wide trip.
Thank you to all the parent volunteers, the CGS staff, and our fearless Principal Marie who encourages moments where the kids get out of the traditional classroom and into an even more compelling learning space.

Planned acts of kindness are an intentional and scheduled effort to brighten someone’s day. Our educator, Naomi worked with the students to plan a “surprise event” for our CGS staff. It was incredibly heartwarming for all of our staff to receive a handmade card, a specially created crown, and a delicious fresh baked cookie!
Thank you up classes and Naomi for taking this idea, making an action plan and executing on your plan so the staff could share your gracious act of kindness. 💕
