MORE FEE, FI, FO, FUM FUN WITH JACK AND THE BEANSTALK by Kidsbooks

It is hard not to read Jack and the Beanstalk when I have this in the library: Every year I think I’m going to take "Jack" down, but then the children start asking me about it. They love this story so much that I just can’t resist reading it again. So, I keep finding new and different renditions of this classic tale....

ALICE THE FAIRY by David Shannon

I love David Shannon, and it is hard not to love Alice the Fairy too! Our vocabulary word: Do you think she ended up with a tummy ache? We wondered who we would make a crown for? How did she end up in the dark? Can you find a magic mirror at home? Or some fairy dust at the breakfast table?...

HOW TO TEACH A SLUG TO READ by Susan Pearson, illustrated by David Slonim

When the children came into the library, we looked at a video of slugs (from the projector). Interesting that their eyes are at the very end of their top tentacles. I also showed them this snail. Take away the shell and it is basically a slug. (I don't seem to have a nonfiction book with a slug in it). Each child received this slug to take home and "read" to....
