🔥 Major news in the English language market as files for bankruptcy, immediately placing thousands of international students - studying both English language programs and academic programs with co-op placements - in immigration crisis. The business rationale for filing for bankruptcy protection is a predictable outcome of recent (2024) changes to Canada's International Student Program and follows similar announcements by EC, another ESL global conglomerate. The rug under these corporate models has been pulled from under the feet of students who invested precious time, money, and other resources to pursue their education in Canada.
International students affected by this sudden rupture to their study and work plans must apply to change their DLIs if continuing to study in Canada. If you’re in a post-secondary co-op program and you change schools or student work placements, you don’t need to apply for a new co-op work permit and may work in the new placement with your existing co-op permit (provided you are attending the new DLI).
