💛 The Freedom to Be Who You Really Are
One of the most freeing things we can learn is that different personalities need different things to thrive.
Some people feel most at peace with structure and predictability. Others — like me — come alive with variety, movement, and connection. Understanding that has helped me stop trying to “lock down” parts of myself that actually make me come alive.
When we understand our personality style, we begin to see that what we once viewed as a flaw might actually be a feature of how we’re wired to serve.
That’s why I love creating spaces like the One Love Food & Arts Market — because it gives all kinds of people a chance to shine. It’s community, creativity, and personality in motion.
This December, I’m excited to once again partner with the City of Toronto to bring the One Love Festive Market to the Fort York Historic Site — transforming it into a welcoming, vibrant space where makers, families, and neighbours can connect.
🗓 Dec 6–7, 2025 | 11 AM – 4 PM

In a world where loneliness is often kept in the shadows, we’re creating a space where connection shines brightly.
One Love Food and Arts Market is not just a market; it’s a community experience.
Join us as we bring together diverse vendors offering delicious foods and beautiful artisanal items from around the globe.
But this isn’t your typical market—we want you to linger, share a meal, dance, and make new friends.
In a time when the world feels increasingly divided, we are committed to uniting people through the universal languages of food, art, and human connection. Come, let’s celebrate community and togetherness. ❤️

So, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on my self-development page.
And the reason isn’t because I’m no longer passionate about learning how to live authentically.
It’s because I’ve been doing just that - learning how to practically live my best life.
And I can say without a doubt there’s no better feeling than learning what satisfies your soul.
Quick plug , I own Birdy’s Daughter™️ Jamaica Blue Mountain® coffee company.
Never in a million years would I have expected that learning about this rare coffee would bring together all my gifts, interests and passions.
Until a few years ago, I didn’t even like coffee.
But I discovered my business allows me to create and that is very fulfilling for me.
I also love that it brings me in contact with so many different kinds of people, artisans, creatives, coffee lovers, accountants, lawyers…
It allows me to learn world history and share the story of my ancestors which matters to me.
I’ve discovered I want to see the world, coffee fields in Vietnam, Colombia, Brazil, not to mention beaches in Albania and Corfu and always, always I return to my beloved Jamaica .
The wild, beautiful place I was born and who I am finally making peace with.
And one day, I know I’ll find myself in Mother Africa.
I write all this to say,
it is never too late to discover your passion, your purpose, your joy.
I don’t care how young or old you are, your purpose is always inside of you waiting for you to discover it.
Keep getting to know the things that make you happy, give you a sense of accomplishment and find ways to experience those feelings over and over again.
Don’t always play it so safe.
Try and then try again.
I will forever stand behind my belief that one of the things that kick-started my journey to finding out who I was,
began when I took a personality assessment workshop.
It helped me to see how I was wired.
We are not all the same, and knowing yourself helps you to accept yourself.
I‘m wired to find fulfillment in interpersonal relationships. I navigate the world through tapping in to how others are feeling.
I also need variety and freedom to feel happy and I’m an extrovert so too much alone time can be draining.
Procedures and very structured environments can at times distress and drain me.
Instead of feeling guilty about what I’m not, comparing myself to others.
I can embrace what I am.
As Rihanna sang, ‘Just live YOUR life’.
If you’d like some guidance or support on the journey to finding your joy, feel free to contact me, I’d love to help.
The personality assessment can be done online and I’m a certified facilitator.
Bless

Never let your circumstances deter you from your goals.
I took this photo to remind me of how important mindset is in building success.
I’m standing in the space my booth was set up in this past weekend.
It was an absolutely beautiful space, perfect for our needs and we had a phenomenal weekend at the event.
But when I first walked in and was told I wasn’t in the “main room”, I immediately started assuming I was getting the worst spot, no one would see me tucked away out here…
Basically worrying I was at a disadvantage,
which really is about feeling unworthy and that you’ve been dealt an unfair hand.
As I caught myself going down that very familiar dead-end road,
I reminded myself of why I was there.
I was there to sell coffee and share the story of coffee.
My success was not dependent on the physical space.
My success was dependent on my ability to sincerely connect and share this beautiful coffee from that most of the world is unaware of.
That’s it.
That was my mission statement.
I got focused and clear and ready.
I discovered that every person that visited the event had to pass by our booth.
We were not at the the back as I had feared.
We were close to the front.
And everyone had to pass us to get to the main room.
If I had remained in a negative space, my experience would have stayed negative.
We create our reality with our thoughts.
So this photo reminds me that what might initially appear to be something not so great,
can turn into the best thing ever,
if we have the faith to believe that good always comes our way,
and the determination to believe in ourselves.

I created this short video about the different ways introverts and extroverts might have experienced the pandemic. The more we understand the ways we differ, the better we can get along especially during difficult times.
Extroverts and Introverts During The Pandemic

Since 2009, each summer, the Edge Program, (Empower, Develop, Grow, Engage) has run a life skills program for black youth from ages 16-20. Workshops cover topics such as how to save, how to dress and how to respond when stopped by the police. Pat Gloudon, the organization’s chair has put together an online Zoom call tomorrow to facilitate a conversation with black youth about anti-black racism to create a supportive environment for them to negotiate these volatile and difficult times.
