Nya:wen & chi-miigwetch to everyone who joined us for the Indigenous Law Students Association Welcome Lunch today!

It was great to kick off the year with new and returning ILSA students, faculty, staff, and Dean Essert at a welcome social catered by Mohawk Chef Joleen General of Heavenly Sweets (Six Nations of the Grand River).

We’re looking forward to a great year ahead filled with community and gatherings.

The wild strawberries are ripening in the Medicine Garden!

Across many Indigenous cultures, the strawberry is known as the “heart berry.” It carries teachings about love, kindness, reconciliation, ceremony, and the importance of maintaining good relationships with one another. In some teachings, strawberries are among the first berries to appear each season, reminding us the gifts the land provides.

Swipe to learn how to say “strawberry” in several Indigenous languages and try a pow wow favourite: strawberry juice. 🍓
