MusiCounts EDUCATES through MusiCounts Learn, a program that creates innovative learning resources for teachers and students, and facilitates important national dialogue about music education. MusiCounts EMPOWERS the next generation of music industry performers and professionals through the Accelerate and Amplify scholarship programs and mentorship experiences. MusiCounts CELEBRATES excellence by recognizing exceptional teachers and philanthropic leaders through the MusiCounts Teacher of the Year and MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Awards (presented by the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation). Since 1997, MusiCounts has awarded over $16,000,000 in support of music education in Canada.

Introducing the Fellows for the MusiCounts Fellowship for Emerging Songwriters & Composers!

The MusiCounts Fellowship for Emerging Songwriters & Composers is a new era in Canadian repertoire. This national program is designed to elevate Canada’s next generation of music creators, while closing a unique gap in the educational landscape by generating accessible music resources for classroom use across the country.

By early 2027, there will be new, contemporary Canadian music for classrooms nationwide and for the CBC Canadian Music Class Challenge, powered by MusiCounts - created by the Songwriter & Composer Fellow pairs.

We will be spotlighting the pairs over the next few months on our website and socials. Please look forward to getting to know each of the Songwriter & Composer Fellows and their work.

Meet Danielle LeVangie - the music teacher at Sydney Mines Middle School and Jubilee Elementary School in Sydney, NS. Danielle has received not one, not two, but three MusiCounts grants for the schools she teaches at. Each grant provided students with access to new instruments, resources, and opportunities.

In 2023, Dr. Oliver Jones was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame to recognize his lifetime achievements in jazz music.

Through the MusiCounts Legacy Grants, presented by the Lewitt Family Foundation, we visited École St-Eugùne Valleyfield in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC, to commemorate Dr. Oliver Jones' induction and to present a grant in support of their school music programming.

We are honoured to have celebrated Oliver Jones, but saddened by the news of his passing. We send our condolences to his family and loved ones.
