School Items for Sale - this Saturday June 1st, 9am-12pm.

This Saturday’s sale will be an initial sale of items the school is no longer using and a great opportunity to view the rest of our school inventory that will be available after our program ends (pick up will be during the last week of June).

Proceeds will go towards closing costs. Unsold items will be donated at the end of June so this is also an opportunity to put your organizations’s name down for donation consideration!

Sadly, after nearly 90 years of operation, Manor Road Nursery School is closing due to the church ending our lease despite our efforts to renegotiate. We are heartbroken about the end of such an incredible program which is a great loss to the community, but we hope our amazing collection of toys, classroom furniture, books and other school supplies will find homes where they will continue to to provide an opportunity for learning and fun ✨ 📚 🧸 🚗 ❤️

Tickets will be $5 each, please send payment to [email protected] with raffle tickets as the note!

The draws will take place on the morning of May 14th! Ticket sales will be cut off May 13th at 9pm!

Daphne Seretis attended Manor Road Nursery School over 60 years ago, from 1961-62. She provided this statement and photo upon hearing the news that the school was losing its home and May have to close.

“I was so sad to hear of the impending closing of our dear 90 year old Manor Road Nursery School. I attended over Sixty years ago, when I was three and four years old. I remember having my own peg with my name above it. Playtime and sing songs with Mrs Mackay. I remember wanting to tag along with my older brothers who also attended but was too young at two. I couldn’t pronounce Nursery School and it came out ‘I want to go to Wooky School.I was so happy when I could finally go!

Did you know Manor Road Nursery School is a parent co-operative?

✏️A cooperative, or co-op, is a pre-school that is run and managed by parents of the attending children. These parents make up the Board of Directors and various committees that help run the school.

✏️This collaborative approach between parents and teachers offers a unique opportunity for parents to actively participate in their child’s early learning process.

✏️Parents also have the option to volunteer in the classroom for “duty days.” Family involvement not only creates a unique community atmosphere, it enables us to offer reduced tuition fees and lower teacher/student ratios!

Guess what? Our students had an absolute blast last Wednesday at The Kortright Centre for our Maple Sugar Bush Field Trip! 🚌🌳 It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable moments. 🥞😊. Thank you to all our families and teachers for this amazing field trip!
