Beaches Co-operative Playschool

We are a play-based, parent-run co-operative playschool in Toronto, Ontario. Family is always welcom Celebrating 40 years in the community! Why Us?

With a play-based curriculum and family-led separation, we enable your children to learn, play, and grow. As a modern playschool, we no longer require classroom duty and welcome all levels of familial involvement. The Beaches Co-operative Playschool is a non-profit, community-focused preschool. With a play-based learning curriculum, children are invited to fully explore their innate curiosity in a safe and nurturing environment. Family-led separation is a cornerstone of the co-operative school. For 40 years, the preschool has been providing quality child care for the Toronto Beaches & East York communities. The Beaches Co-operative Playschool is a great option for families who are looking for a more enriching option for their child’s early education. Here’s why we have been a pillar in early childcare since 1978, standing apart from other preschools in East York and the Beaches area:
Family-led separation is a cornerstone of our philosophy, allowing the child and caregiver to transition at their own pace
Family is always welcome to participate at school, and caregivers can often be seen spending time in the classroom
Parental participation is important to the school, without the requirement of classroom duty. We invite parents to join our morning welcome circle, and give to the school community in ways they are able. Outdoor space is a cornerstone of child play and we offer a year-round, safe and fun playground for our students. Play-based learning enables learning AND lets kids be kids
Our teachers are qualified, well educated and compassionate educators

Beaches Co-Operative Playschool has been a fixture in the beaches neighbourhood for 50 years. Run by local families and an amazing group of staff the school has been able to provide an enriching experience for children to foster their sense of education in the world. The school has recently fallen on hard times and facing closure, due to low enrolment because of the Canada Wide Early Learning initiative which doesn’t allow smaller local centres to compete. Although we may be small we are mighty! We are looking to community to help us raise funds to keep the school open and see our staff and families through to the end of the school year.
