Message: most of us tend to focus on the easy things when it comes to Islam: the length of one’s beard, how many extra prayers one performs per day, and whether or not we enter the toilet with our left foot. Yes these things are important, but the true value of your faith lies in the purity of your heart; are your actions driven by pride, do you cause harm to others, does hate fester within you, do you cut corners to gain some worldly benefit? This is where your focus should be because this is what really counts at the end.

A Dose of Faith anyone?

A man told Omar ibn Al Khattab that such and such a person is honest.
So Omar asked the man: “Did you have the opportunity to travel with him?” The man said no.
Omar then asked him: “Have there been any financial transactions between the two of you?” The man said no.
Omar finally asked: “Have you entrusted him with anything in the past?” The man said no.
So Omar told the man: “Perhaps you saw him moving his head up and down in prayer at the mosque. Unfortunately you do not know this man.”

What is the ruling in Islam for somebody who doesn’t pray? The ruling is to offer that person your encouragement, support and a helping hand so that they can take their first steps towards God. Be a beacon of light for others, not a stumbling block along their spiritual journey.

A scholar was invited to a non-Muslim country to deliver a series of talks. Upon his return, he was asked about the status of the Muslim community in that country. He replied by saying that the Muslims there were very blessed to have a government that allowed them only one mosque. In response to the confusion his answer created, he explained that restricting the Muslims of the various sects to a common space forced the different groups to cooperate with, respect, and tolerate one another. What a blessing indeed.

As more and more brain-washed Muslim youth the world over turn to un-Islamic and barbaric violence to express their grievances, Muslim scholars and their societies have been busy arguing back and forth over the past week (as is traditionally done annually) about the permissibility of celebrating the prophet's birthday (PBUH). I wonder what the prophet himself would think of the ridiculous state his nation is in and the trivial issues they are investing their valuable time in. Enough is enough!
