Simply Highland Dance School

Simply Highland Dance School is based in Toronto Ontario. Teaching Students the traditional Scottish Dances! Highland dancing is steeped in tradition.

Wendy Pickles, Director of Simply Highland Dance School has been teaching Highland dancers for many years at other dance studios and is now very excited to open Simply Highland Dance School which specializes in all levels and styles of Highland Dance. Established in 2010, Simply Highland Dance School offers a fun and enjoyable environment to learn this very disciplined form of dance. Dating back to before recorded history, the Highland dances of Scotland were originally performed by athletic males and were danced to celebrate triumph, joy and other reflections of emotion. Competitive Highland dancing as we know it began during the revival of interest in Highland culture during the 19th century. Women first began competing at the turn of the century. Highland dance requires both athletic and artistic skill and is danced both informally and in competition.
