Toronto Music Alliance believes in Music for Everyone. Offering lessons for piano, strings, guitar, singing/songwriting, theory, harmony, history and more!

Music doesn’t fit into a square box, so why should music lessons? Our school takes a fun, relevant and modern approach to music with lessons tailored to the student’s individual needs. From classical to jazz, RCM Exams to songwriting, school credits and auditions to Kiwanis festivals, our students’ results and achievements speak for themselves.

Many of you have read the recent articles in the Toronto Star outlining allegations of mistreatment and assault of students at the Royal Conservatory over several decades. As a music school, we want to address this head on, and discuss our school's commitments to our community.

First, Toronto Music Alliance unequivocally condemns any kind of behaviour that hurts anyone, from discrimination, to verbal or physical abuse, or any other form of harm.

We would also like to remind everyone that there are many wonderful, caring teachers at the RCM, and we stand by these teachers as fellow pedagogues, musicians, and friends.

Caring for the well-being of our community - both students and faculty - is central to our ethos of everything we do. Our building was specifically custom-designed with safety in mind, featuring large glass doors visible to the public at all times. Our faculty all have background checks. (Of course, we are very picky about who is brought onto our faculty roster!) Parents are always welcome to sit in on the lesson, and we always strive to foster a nurturing, caring, and supportive lesson environment.

This extends to the administration of the school as well, always ensuring we deal with any issue with care, respect, and diligence.

For nearly 15 years, we have tried to cultivate a culture of caring while instilling the highest levels of musicianship in our students, and will continue to strive for excellence for years to come.

We take your safety seriously; we always have. But now, more than ever, we want to remind everyone of our promise to have ToMA be a safe place for everyone to learn and grow. And we are committed to keeping that promise.

Congratulations to students Nora D and Zev S (studio of Denise Williams) on their amazing work today at Kate Carver's masterclass! Ms. Carver is a renowned teacher, conductor, adjudicator, and musician, so there was lots to learn by doing and watching. It's always great to get a chance to perform and grow!

Congratulations to Xina F (student of David Stone) on her successful admission to Berklee College of Music! Xina is a talented singer/songwriter who has been studying with David for the last five years. We are thrilled to see our students make a contribution to the musical world at large, and are so proud of these achievements. Way to go, Xina!

Piano students Abby (student of David Stone) and Adam (student of Gregory Millar) have their lesson at the same time. They also realized that they were playing the other's repertoire, just in a different order! Rather than be fearsome rivals, these two have come together to master the art of the Piano Duet! They've been having a ton of fun, and look forward to sharing more at the June recital.

Today marks our third anniversary in our new home on Oakwood! We had to go through a lot to get here: a pandemic, construction, then MORE construction... But through it all, we had our community walking in lockstep the whole way. We've met hundreds of new friends in that time, and are thrilled to be a vibrant hub in Oakwood Village. Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't shout out our incredible faculty, who have grown to 15 (!!!) thanks to everyone discovering how special this school is. And if you haven't, we'd love to meet you. We're just getting started.
