French performer, Njacko Backo presented today and it was FABULOUS!! The students (and even the teachers) had a chance to drum with him. The audience sung in French and danced energetically to the songs. Njacko told us a folklore story that his mom used to tell him, teaching us about trust. It was such a wonderful community event!!

What a beautiful winter concert celebrating community and inclusion. The students did a fantastic job preforming, dancing, singing and enjoying every moment. The day after the concert was Care and share where the students made cards for local seniors and donated food to the Thorncliffe food drive. Thank you to the whole community for the generosity.

The average Canadian lives off of $75 worth of groceries a week. The grade 5s took on this challenge and headed to Loblaws to see if they could budget food for a week. Many students were over budget and had to either cut items off or justify where the extra money is coming from. Those who were under had to allocate the money to either RRSP, savings etc. A great hands on math activity about financial literacy. At the end of the field trip the students donated $43 to the food bank.
