Sidney Ledson Institute

Sidney Ledson Institute It is a great fit for motivated & gifted learners. Our goal is to allow even very young minds to enjoy the fruits of learning.

SLI The Sidney Ledson School is a private school in Toronto offering preschool, kindergarten & elementary grades with small class sizes, early reading, advanced academics & enrichment. Our highly trained teaching specialists lead children along the tested path that, throughout history, has yielded intellectual titans: John Stewart Mill, Jeremy Bentham, Karl Witte, William James Sidis, Norbert Wiener and others. The exceptional accomplishments of our children have been described in numerous newspaper and magazine reports, and filmed more than a dozen times for TV programs. The school is the visible expression of the philosophy embodied in Sidney Ledson's books, Give Your Child Genius IQ and Teach Your Child to Read in Just 10 Minutes a Day. Since 1980, when the Institute was founded, thousands of children have secured superior intelligence and carried a tradition of excellence from their preschool years through to their intensive grade level curriculum. Our SSAT prep program has brought many of our students into the 99th percentile in SSAT performance and admission into the top post-secondary institutions in Canada. To maintain the highest quality in education, we must maintain smaller class sizes. Thus, admission will be granted based on prospective students' performance on the admission assessment. Children under 2 years of age are accepted on a first-come basis.

Today, our SLI community wore orange and came together for an Orange Shirt Day assembly.

Through learning, reflection, and the words “Every Child Matters,” our students considered how we can show care, kindness, and respect for one another. We honour the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. 🧡

Today, SLI students took part in the Terry Fox School Run along the Betty Sutherland Trail, showing determination and cheering one another on every step of the way.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we surpassed our fundraising goal in support of cancer research. Thank you to every student, family, and staff member who helped make today possible.

Big ideas are taking shape at SLI!

Our hallways are filled with colourful student-created displays representing a wonderful range of clubs, from coding and trivia to arts, crafts and hands-on creativity.

Through these clubs, students share their interests, connect with their peers and build confidence as young leaders. We love seeing their imagination and initiative bring new energy to our school community!

Our preschool campers love gathering together to listen, imagine, ask questions, and discover new words along the way. It is a simple part of the day that helps build early literacy, language development, and a lifelong love of reading.

Summer camp adventures continued outdoors as our campers explored the natural spaces surrounding the school. Time outside encourages curiosity, observation, teamwork, and plenty of opportunities to discover something new while enjoying the beautiful summer weather. 🌿☀️

Messy science is often the most memorable. Students put their creativity and problem solving to work as they designed, built, tested, and refined their experiments, discovering that some of the best learning happens through hands-on exploration. 🧪🔬✨
