Not only are simple design choices like wood floors vs. cold linoleum important to the overall patient experience, but so is straightforward and fitting communication between caregiver and patient.
Here’s a great article on the Rotterdam Eye Hospital's patient communication program, which categorizes each patient into four different types: "Google Patients", "Dominant Patients", "Quiet Patients", and "Emotional Patients". By categorizing each patient, the caregiver can then communicate and interact in an appropriate way that both educates and comforts each patient archetype.
