Canadian Modern Language Review invites submissions for its Special Issue 2027: Innovating with virtual exchange: Moving toward a paradigm shift.

Virtual exchanges—whether eTandem, lingua franca, or mixed—are reshaping the way languages are taught and learned. This special issue welcomes research on topics such as:

-virtual exchanges in K–12, higher ed, and teacher education

-intercultural learning and challenges in implementation

-multimodality, translanguaging, and plurilingual practices

-virtual reality and AI in language exchanges

-exchanges involving less learned or minority languages, including Indigenous languages

Call for Papers – Special Issue of the Journal of History!

The Journal of History is now accepting submissions for a special issue, “Historical Testimony and the Arts.”

This issue aims to answer the following questions and beyond:
• What are the uses of testimony for researchers, artists and audiences?
• What are the limits of those forms of representation in their use of these accounts?
• How can art and other forms of representation challenge our understanding of history?
• What do visual mediums offer to scholars, both in terms of their own research as well as their teaching of the past in the classroom?
• Is testimony for teaching about the past, showing students how to listen, to impart empathy, to train potential upstanders, and/or to fight bigotry?

Submissions will be accepted until December 4, 2026 and are subject to peer review.

Journal of Canadian Studies is seeking submissions for an upcoming special issue: "My Canada Includes an Extra Chromosome," guest edited by Laura Bisaillon.

This special issue invites empirically grounded, theoretically informed research examining Canada's "excessive demand" immigration laws and medical inadmissibility policies that exclude migrants based on chronic illness, disability, and genetic difference. Potential topics include Canadian histories of medical exclusion, legal and socio-legal challenges to immigration policy, comparative analyses with other former British colonies, and theoretical frameworks for reimagining a more equitable system.
