Prevention Strategies:
1. Empower child witnesses to disclose domestic violence and to enhance their ability to develop safe, non-violent relationships.
2. Heighten the awareness among the parents of the impact of domestic violence on their children and to support them in developing non-violent, nurturing relationships with children.
3. Improve the current response to the needs of child witnesses through raising the level of knowledge and skill among human service providers.
4. Encourage and facilitate the development of community responses to the issue of children and domestic violence.
Domestic Violence and Children Witness

Children who witness domestic violence may develop serious emotional, behavioral, developmental, or academic problems. As children, they may become violent themselves, or withdraw. Children from violent homes may become depressed and have low self-esteem.
What are the effects of domestic violence on children?
1. Children who witness domestic abuse may develop serious emotional, behavioral, developmental, or academic problems. They are more likely acting aggressive or opposition and antisocial behavior or to be depressed and anxious.
2. Children from abuse homes may become depressed and have low self-esteem. They more likely to experience difficulties in school and getting lower score on assessments of cognitive and literacy learning.
3. Children more likely to use violence at school or in the community in response to perceived threats. Recent researches indicate that males exposed to domestic violence as children are more likely to engage in domestic violence as adults. Higher level of adult depression and trauma symptom also have been found.
4. Children exposed to domestic violence are more likely limited their problem solving skill and lack of conflict resolution skills as well. They are more likely attempt su***de or use drugs when they facing some difficulty issues.
5. Children in families experiencing domestic violence are more likely to become abusers in their own relationship later in life.
