Through narrative paintings and ambiguous imagery, 2026 Artist Project Untapped artist Billie MacFarland explores themes of truth, authenticity, and connection, fueled by their passion for building meaningful relationships and continuing to create.

Toronto-based painter and watercolor illustrator Henry Hao brings the warmth and poetry of urban life to his work. Through his art, he reflects everyday moments with a personal and heartfelt perspective.

Toronto contemporary artist, Aadila Munshi is known for her abstract calligraffiti paintings and sculpture, where writing functions as both drawing and abstraction. She creates forms with no linguistic meaning, and combines raw street energy with thoughtful composition.

Ama Liyanage’s artwork reimagines traditions of leisure, celebrating identity and introspection through vibrant, multifaceted paintings. Inspired by childhood memories and everyday joys, her evolving style challenges conventional depictions of women of color, offering a fresh perspective on representation.

Sydney Hanson’s booth in the Untapped section during 2026 featured her unique paintings and prints on lace and found textiles. Her work explores themes of womanhood and tradition, using feminine-coded materials to challenge traditional values.

Spotlight on Pete Kiriakopoulos, an artist who brings ideas and emotions to life through painting when words fall short. Starting with a sketch and a feeling, Pete’s work evolves deliberately into familiar scenes, postures, and faces that resonate deeply without the need for explanation. His art invites you to feel and connect in ways beyond words.

Haley Meyer, a Toronto-based oil painter, explores the connection between memory loss and transitional spaces. Using fleeting images captured in transit, her work reflects how memories slip, fade, and blur over time. Through painting, she preserves and reshapes these fading experiences, offering a poignant reflection on impermanence and distortion.

Spotlight on Melika Saeeda, an Iranian-Canadian visual artist based in Toronto. Her vibrant, layered compositions explore themes of memory, migration, and identity, seamlessly blending storytelling with contemporary art. Whether through murals in public spaces or intimate narrative paintings, her art leaves a lasting impression.

Today, we celebrate mothers like Lise Gravel, whose work is informed by her lived experience as a woman and a mother. Through her art, Lise explores transformation, strength, and the layered experiences of women, inspiring quiet reflection and growth.

Gabriel George, winner of the First in Show award at 2026 for his installation "Echoes of the Divine," now has a solo exhibition at Craft Ontario Gallery.

Titled "Living Ritual," the exhibition is inspired by Theyyam, an ancient ritual from northern Kerala, India. It features "Echoes of the Divine," new sculptures, and video animation, exploring how craft and ceremony carry cultural knowledge across generations.
