Toronto Irish Set Dancing

We at Toronto Irish Set dance would all like to thank those who came to dance and celebrate with us at our end of season ceili.

We had an amazing band and calling and had enough for five sets! Oh yeah and the treat table had outdone itself.

If you are looking to continue last night’s buzz, you are welcome to our last ROC dance class this Monday. Our final event of the 2025/26 season is a week Monday on Centre Island a convenient 2 minute walk from the centre Island ferry terminal!

Again, thank you for your support helping making this set dance season the success that it was.

1. We are dancing tonight at the Russian Orthodox Church. Enter through the smaller door to the left of the church. Please keep in mind we have only two more classes at the hall. The last day officially is Dancing on the Island.

2. Dancing on the Island on June 8th

We'll be dancing at Toronto Island Beer and BBQ, located right at the Centre Island Ferry docks. There is a huge wooden deck right on the water. The view of the city is terrific.

We are asking for donations to defray costs. Suggested: $10 We encourage you to buy your supper at Toronto B&B. They are not charging us for this event. Meals are about $25. It's pub food.If you are going to picnic, please don't bring your picnic into the bar. There are lots of picnic tables outside. We need to support their generosity.

WHERE:
Toronto Island Beer and BBQ at Centre Island. A map is attached.
To get here take the Centre Island ferry at 5:20 pm or for a more leisurely experience, the 4:40pm ferry. It's a short walk from the ferry dock to the pub.
If you miss the ferry, you can take the Toronto Island Water Taxi (yellow boats at the foot of Yonge St.) These cost $13.50 but run every 10 minutes and deliver you to the door of the pub. The extra $4 is worth the convenience.
We can take the 8:20 or 9:20 pm ferry home.

DETAILS:
If it's like last year, we'll get 3 sets. Music will not be amplified.
We hope that we can order food and eat together right on the deck, finishing up by 6:30. We'll need to start dancing promptly at 6:30pm.
The pub closes at 8pm, but the owner has said we can continue to dance until 8:30.
Cross your fingers for great weather!!

4. Dan McDonald and the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Orchestra are once again looking for dancers. They are holding a fund raising pub day at the Donegal RMS in Port Credit on June 7 at 2pm. If you are able to dance, please email Steve at [email protected]. We are hoping to get at least 4 dancers. A set would be great.

5. Our last ceili is this coming Saturday at 8 pm . We’d love to see you all there!

2. Our next and last ceili of the season is coming up on May 30th. Guaranteed great music and calling. Dancing starts at 8 pm.

4. Dancing on the Island planning has begun.

Jon & Pat will be hosting a session at Noonan’s on Saturday, May 23rd, 4:30pm.

And I’ll be able to join them for another one on Saturday, May 30th at 4:00pm

7. As of the writing of this post, the TTC is still running but sides are still in talks.
