To mark Yom HaShoah , both schools held meaningful commemorative assemblies and programs. At UO, the Grade 11 Holocaust class led a program, preparing and presenting beautiful posters that told the life stories of various “Women of Valour” of the Holocaust. They also included a candle-lighting ceremony, thought-provoking remarks and an inspiring kumzitz. At YOC, students and staff participated in a candle-lighting ceremony and heard meaningful words from Rabbi Eddie Shostak. Students focused on different aspects of the Holocaust, including personal stories and songs, historical and contemporary Halachic questions, the evolution of Holocaust remembrance, and complex moral dilemmas. Thank you to everyone who helped on making these events so meaningful.

There’s been so much going on lately we’ve barely had time to post! 😅

From Pre-Pesach learning 📖 and Tisch 🎶 with our alumni, to science experiments 🧪, soccer tournaments ⚽️, Mishmar & d’var torahs, and a special siyum from Eitan Yunger, YOC has just about done it all! 💯

And dare we say, there ain’t no ruach like YOC ruach. 🗣️Don’t believe us? Check out the last two slides …. How it started vs. How it ended. 🥳🙌🏼

We want to wish everyone a Chag Kasher v’Sameach! L’shana haba’ah b’Yerushalayim!

Late post! On March 12, we hosted a Mother-Son Mishmar. Families enjoyed a delicious dinner and engaged in meaningful learning about baking matzah, facilitated by Rabbi Kurtz and our Grade 12 students. It was a lovely evening all around!

Stay tuned for more BAS highlights later this week! ✨
