Winter Solstice Celebration - A YEAR IN 8 SEASONS
A gathering to connect people | land | tradition.
Join us for an afternoon of reflection, connection, and embodied practice as we step into Winter—a time of transition, slowing down, and embracing stillness. We'll tap into the wisdom of the season, celebrating with movement, nature, and a special ‘Jam Ceremony' infused with spoken word and circle singing. Share your reflections over a seasonal treat and warm drink as we transition from autumn’s busy energy into a season of rest and renewal.
Part 3 in a series of Beloved Community-building events that connect people, land and tradition, reminding us of our interconnection and interdependence.

Join the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute & Elliott Allen Institute for Theology and Ecology on Thursday October 16 (4-5:30 PM) for a Lecture by Dr. Christina M. Gschwandtner, Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University, titled “Western Desacralization and Eastern Mysticism: Rethinking Popular Assumptions about Christian Responsibility for Destruction of the Earth.”
Often blamed for fostering dualism and desacralization, Western Christianity has been cast as the root of ecological crisis, while Eastern Christianity is idealized as a mystical alternative. Dr. Gschwandtner challenges this dichotomy, urging deeper reflection on how worldviews truly shape ecological action. A distinguished scholar in phenomenology and philosophy of religion, she brings fresh insight to debates on Christianity, ecology, and responsibility for the natural world.
There also will be the opportunity to attend a Master Class with Dr. Gschwandtner which will take place from noon-2 PM and includes a complementary luncheon. Both the Master Class and Lecture will be at Sheptytsky House (seminar room), 5 Elmsley Way. The master class requires registration. Please sign up at: https://forms.gle/WGDXP3kHmt3jWYp99.
