In affiliation with the Creative Art’s Student’s Association (CASA), The Film Student’s Association (FSA) has been reborn after being absent for many years.
As the new FSA, we represent the interests, opinions and concerns of the Film students and bridge the gap between the students and faculty. The FSA is an integral part of the fine arts community as our industry is a growing one, and an influential one in terms of creative expression and message conveyance. As a current film student, you are already a member but if you want to get more involved wit
hin the association and take on higher programming/project development, that is entirely up to you. The association will allow students to meet and form professional relationships with the other film students in the department. We will be hosting various events like movie nights, private film festivals with specific criteria, and film screenings for those who wish to submit their films and have them displayed through us. There will be an online film reviews blog and website that will be created that will allow students to create and form their own opinions about the films of today. This will also give us recognition beyond the confines of the University and put us right in the middle of the social networking age. Beyond that there will be a separate committee in charge of creating film productions. We will be purchasing equipment through our budget, for sole use by the FSA. The committee will have creative freedom in using the equipment and creating productions for the purpose of expanding their outlooks beyond the restrictions of the film curriculum. We will also work with and collaborate with the rest of the fine arts department through CASA and the other department associations in order to expand our horizons. It is a very exciting year for film students and we hope to get maximum exposure through our student attendees.
