On September 25th, join us for Canadian premiere of “Breathe” by Faisal Anwar at SILO NIGHTS, curated by OCAD University, at Public Pier. “Breathe” transforms the Purple Martin’s 5,000-mile migration from Brazil to North America into a living sky across the Canada Malting Silos. Presented in partnership with The Blackwood Gallery, University of Toronto Mississauga. Special thanks to Goethe-Institut Toronto. Public Pier created in collaboration between The Bentway, Harbourfront Centre, OCAD University and The Waterfront BIA, with Toronto Port Authority as lead sponsor.

Last week we celebrated the hard work of the artists behind the completion of the Steps Forward 150th Yellow Staircase Mural Project.

For OCAD U’s 150th anniversary, this space invites us to honour the history of the Yellow Staircase while imagining new possibilities: elevating the spirit of openness and experimentation that has defined it, while embracing forms of creative intervention that inspire connection, respect, and pride.

Featuring work by Alexa Morrison (), Mataya Guy (), Jordyn Hendricks (.hendricks), Caylen Monroe (), the Dreamzzz collective (Minjeong Ju (), Lisa Shao (.jingxuan), and Liam Ethan (.ethx_x)), and the Mature Student Collective () with community coordination by Faven Bell-Jerome ()

Skennen’kó:wa ken? (Do You Carry Great Peace?) is now on view — presented by OCAD University at Canada’s Pavilion, 2026 Gwangju Biennale.

Curated by Ryan Rice (R2), the exhibition brings together work by Kanien’kehá:ka artists Hannah Claus (Hannah Claus), Melissa General () and Shelley Niro — opening onto global conversations around peace, identity, memory and sovereignty.
In Gwangju this fall? Come experience it in person.
