The Sterling Hall School The Sterling Hall School - Where Boys Belong. Our Mission is to inspire and empower each boy through his formative years.

The Sterling Hall School is an independent day school for boys JK - Grade 8. Boys at Sterling Hall are encouraged to take risks, to pursue individual interests, and to grow and discover who they are. As one student wrote in his Grade 8 valedictory address, “if your rugby practice conflicts with your cooking class, if you are not only comfortable writing poetry but reading it to your entire English class, and if you lead by example and care about others inside the school and out… you are a Sterling Hall boy.” We celebrate return visits from our Old Boys year after year, taking pride in both the diversity of their interests and the similarity of their confidence in pursuing their individual passions.

On September 30, our SHS community wore orange to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities forever impacted.

Leading up to this important day, our boys took part in age-appropriate learning through read-alongs, community circles, meaningful discussions and group projects. Their learning will continue at Friday Assembly, where students will have an opportunity to share and reflect together on truth and reconciliation.

Yesterday, our SHS community came together to celebrate the launch of Growing Together, the most significant campus transformation in The Sterling Hall School’s history!

It was a wonderful evening filled with excitement and pride as our community came together to celebrate. We shared what Growing Together will mean for our campus, including new learning spaces thoughtfully designed to support how boys learn best and reflect SHS’s continued commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience.

This week, SHS parents gathered for our first PA Coffee & Conversations of the year. It was a chance to reconnect, meet new faces and hear from our PA Executive about the year ahead, including upcoming events and ways to get involved.

Clubs are back at SHS! This fall term, our boys are diving into a new assortment of Clubs, from Coding and Debate to Lego STEM to Magic Club and more. Each Club gives boys the chance to explore new interests, develop skills and work together with their peers.

Our U14 Sharks took to the pitch yesterday for their first match of the season, bringing great enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship to the game. The boys put together some brilliant plays up front, showed a sturdy defence and worked hard across the pitch throughout the game. While they came up just short on the scoreboard, there was plenty to celebrate.

This week was fall trips a SHS! Starting with a day trip for Grades 1–2, boys gradually build their experience with trips that range from one to seven nights in Grades 3–8.

Whether they’re spending the day exploring or heading off to camp for several nights, these experiences give boys the chance to try new things and build self-reliance. They learn alongside their peers and teachers, take on new challenges and, of course, have plenty of fun along the way!

It was wonderful to welcome our SHS parents at last night’s Meet the Teacher Night! Parents connected with teachers, learned more about the year ahead and got a closer look at the learning, routines and experiences that will shape the year for our boys.

Today was a great start to our Friday Assemblies! Our new Head Boy and Prefects led our first Assembly of the 2026–27 school year, with boys learning about character through next week’s trips, co-curriculars, Student Ambassadors, SHS Houses and citizenship.

We also shared exciting news about our Growing Together capital campaign and the new campus transformation ahead. The celebration continued at lunch with Growing Together cupcakes for everyone!

It was a great way to kick off a year of learning, leadership and connection at SHS.
