I'm pleased to announce the release of my first traditional klezmer album, The Rabbi's Blessing, under the banner of the Mike Anklewicz Klezmer Trio. The concept for this album originated in 2015 when I performed a traditional klezmer trio concert in the 350-year-old Portugese Synagogue in Amsterdam. I took the approach of performing "European" klezmer -- tunes that could be sourced to recordings and publications from Europe rather than the United States....

Episode 3 of The Sax Conservatory has just dropped and in it, I begin talking about how to play in the Altissimo register. It's been a challenging couple of weeks of social distancing in Toronto. While the first week was March break, we're now coming to the end of the second week when we would have been back in the swing of things with the regular teaching schedule. Of course, like most musicians and artists out there, I lost my fair share of gigs to the complete cancellation of events, public and private, but I've also been using this time to try to be resourceful.
